The excursion started with a van ride to the boats. Once on the boats the captain had a great sense of humor. The first mate took the helm while the captain held on to a rope off the back of the boat and scouted for conch while being towed. Once the captain found the conch he dove down and brought up enough for our conch ceviche. With Captain and conch in the boat we went snorkeling. To be fair the conditions were rough. That is just the way the weather is some days. I was hesitant to get too close to the coral because of the waves and the current. There was a lot to see and the water was clear. After snorkeling we went to a small island with a beautiful beach. The captain gave a lesson on conch and the first mate started making ceviche. While we waited on the ceviche to marinate the captain stepped into the water and a couple of stingrays came to him and followed him around. He lifted one to the surface and gave a lesson on stingrays. These were wild stingrays and still had their barbs. Everyone was allowed to touch the stingray but no one was forced. The time at the beach was beautiful and the captain and mate were very accommodating. In closing I would Highly recommend this excursion with the one consideration being that you are a strong swimmer. If not you can still go and enjoy the rest of the time, but the conditions were challenging for the snorkeling portion.
