Enjoy an amazing day at Laughing Bird Caye National Park! Snorkel! Explore the reef, relax on the beach, swim in its crystal clear waters, and simply enjoy yourself.
Your incredible experience will start once you reach your cruise tender port in Harvest Caye. Please note Harvest Caye is a tender port so you would need to take the tender to the mainland which takes just a short 20-minute ride. Your professional guide will be waiting for you at the tender terminal to meet you. He will get you checked in onto your private boat to start your ride to Laughing Bird Caye for some snorkeling!
The tender boats used to get you to the Laughing Bird Caye are from 23 feet to 42 feet in length. There are seats along the sides and removable ladders. They are fully licensed and insured under the laws of Belize, so please just sit back and relax while your knowledgeable crew gives you interesting information about Laughing Bird National!
This island was established as a National Park in 1991 and added to the World Heritage List in 1996. The boat ride to Laughing Bird Caye takes approximately 45 minutes, just sit and relax feeling the ocean breezes along the way. Once you arrive at the National Park, you will disembark in a large floating deck. The island itself has basic facilities, beach chairs, shaded palapas, etc. Once there, your crew will provide you with snorkeling gear (mask, sterilized snorkel tube, and fins of various sizes), and after a brief explanation about how to use it for those new to the sport, your snorkeling time will start. Please feel free to ask for a flotation vest if you need it.
You will also receive a briefing from the park ranger about the park, the do's and don'ts, the history, etc. before you start. You will enter the water right from the shore as it is part of the coral reef. You will be accompanied by a guide at all times for your safety and they will help you to find interesting marine life along the way such as many different species of fish, conch, lobster, shrimps, and rays or turtles might be seen as well! The part of the reef you will explore has a maximum depth of 8 ft (2 meters).
Enjoy the colorful coral, sponges, and tropical fish that will dart in and out of the coral reef system. The waters are warm and calm so you can relax and enjoy your time with no rush! You can also choose to just lay on the sand to soak some sun and get the perfect tan while you eat delicious seasonal fruit, chips and salsa, and more snacks and taste refreshing juice and rum punch!
When your time at the island is over, you will be informed by your crew so you can jump back to your private boat and go to the dock in Placencia to take the ferry back to Harvest Caye and your cruise ship tender pier.
