This excursion is for certified and non-certified divers! Cozumel is world famous for its coral reefs and this excursion is a perfect option to discover why. This is the only place you can experience a cave dive and is our exclusive offer! Chankanaab is located a short taxi ride from your Cozumel cruise terminal. Please note that the entrance fee to Chankanaab is not included, the cost per person is $23 USD. This includes use of the facilities such as chairs, hammocks, loungers, shade, restrooms, dressing rooms, inlet swimming areas, showers, and more. There are restaurants where you can purchase food and drinks at your own expense.
Start this adventure by hopping on a ferry in Playa del Carmen. Then relax and enjoy spectacular views as you glide across the waters of the Caribbean for about 40 minutes. For your comfort, the ferry has facilities and snacks, including drinks. Consumables are not included in the price. You can choose to sit topside and feel the ocean breezes or view the sights from the large windows in the main cabin, which is air-conditioned.
Chankanaab is located a short taxi ride from the ferry dock and taxis will be waiting. Your Chankanaab entrance fee is included in the excursion cost. Upon arrival, your Dive Master will explain the dive plan and provide snorkel and SCUBA Diving equipment. This is for both certified divers and those discovering how fun it is.
The easy access from the dive shop to the water will make this shore dive stress-free, a perfect option for novices or cruise ship divers who do not want to spend the whole day on a dive boat. For those just discovering how to dive, your English-speaking Dive Master will give you a brief introduction to diving and you will learn the basic skills to enjoy this one-tank dive excursion.
As soon as you get in the water you will be surrounded by diverse marine life. It is common to spot eagle rays, grunts, snapper, angelfish, parrotfish, grouper, turtles, trumpet fish, wrasse, spotted drum fish, amberjacks, and even long-snout seahorses in the area around the reef.
The natural marine life is not the only interesting thing to see...your experienced Dive Master will show you the underwater statues -The Christ, Chacmol (Mayan God of rain), and Virgen Mary.
To top it all off, if you are a Certified Diver you will be led into a cave named "La Quebrada" - this is the only cave you can dive through from shore in Cozumel.
After your dive, you are welcome to stay at Chankanaab and sunbathe in a lounge chair at the beach or take a nap in a hammock. Snorkeling gear is also included to continue enjoying the marine life. The park offers other activities and attractions that are included - a botanical garden, a Mayan House (homemade tortilla samples), a Tequila Exhibit with samples, Eco-Archeological and Archaeological Prehispanic Replicas, a swimming pool, a Crocodile Exhibition, and a Sea Lion show!
You can purchase Mexican-style and other food and snacks from the restaurants right on the beach. When you are ready to head out, there are many taxis at Chankanaab to take you back to the ferry dock at your leisure and expense.
